Cancer – the very word evokes fear and a sureness that a monster’s invaded the body! “Why does it make me feel so distressed, disturbed, and just damn mad?! I want it out! I want it gone! Cancer’s such an insidious disease. I’ll defeat cancer!”

That’s exactly what Bob Vance Moulder decided to do: blast the cancer, get on with life, and continue to have and inspire fun and faith with every advancing step. No matter the age of the person who hears the “cancer” diagnosis, this from-the-heart-and-head account of Moulder’s battle against cancer inspires optimism. He covers all the emotions, digs deep to deliberate and informed combat, and continues with the flourish expected of a man’s man.

“That is the real reason I wrote the book in a humorous vein,” Moulder said. “As a person going through treatment for lung cancer, I wanted to try to give patients and caretakers a reason to smile, to have a more positive attitude and possibly to alleviate some of their fears. It was therapeutic for me to write the book, and I hope it will help all those who read it.”

The book’s a must read for anyone who shares the diagnosis – no matter the specific site of origin or stage of the disease – as well as for others who love another person who’s living with and beating (or not) the cancer.

A Must Read! – M. T. Fillette –
Information and humor combined in print, what a rare read for cancer patients!

Bob Moulder’s craft of storytelling shows that cancer can be an obstacle fought with every medical tool, determination, and humor.

Men and women with cancer will benefit from reading this book, as well as family members, caretakers, and friends. While cancer is devastating to any who face it, I closed the book with a smile. I highly recommend it.

Hot Flashes is a readable book, the way a good book ought to be written. As you read, you can hear Bob Vance Moulder talking to you, two good friends sitting around over coffee, sharing good times and bad.

This is a book about a dread disease, but it is written with lots of humor; you’ll laugh as you read some pages. As Moulder moves from doctor visits to tests and treatments, he finds waiting-room humor in talking with other cancer patients and learning how they fare with their treatments.

But, and this is the best part, he explains how he beat his first cancer and how he is fighting this second bout.

If you can call a cancer story delightful, Hot Flashes is just that, but it’s more than that. Cancer victims and families will find a reason to smile, to hope, and to believe, and as Moulder said, to be ready.

Hot Flashes, Swollen Ankles and Sore Breasts. And I’m a Man.: How One Man Used a Sense of Humor to Combat Cancer – Twice

If you are a cancer patient, primary caretaker, relative or friend of a cancer patient, or if you are concerned about cancer in your future, this is a must read book for you. Written in a humorous manner by a prostate cancer survivor, now undergoing chemo and radiation treatments for lung cancer, this book can give you a smile, provide you with a more positive attitude, and perhaps alleviate some of your fears. There are two ways you can face the words, “You have cancer.” You can cry, moan, feel sorry for yourself, and blame everyone and everything for what is happening to you. Or you can get mad as hell and say you won’t be intimidated. You can kick butts, take names and refuse to let the disease control your life. The author chose to fight, and he doesn’t mean a political correctness slap on the wrist. He means a tooth and talon, claws and fangs, no-holds-barred battle. Join him in combat as he uses a sense of humor, a positive attitude and faith as his weapons.
